Meant to be given to United States soldiers serving in the Persian Gulf during active operations the 1991 Topps Desert Shield set is one of the rarer modern baseball issues with reportedly less than 7000 of each card produced. Cards were stamped with a gold foil overprint on the front honoring the military effort. Sets could only be completed by opening one wax pack at a time. Presented here is an exceedingly scarce 1991 Topps Baseball Desert Shield wax box of (36) fifteen-card packs. Topps did not differentiate the packaging of the Desert Shield edition from the mass-produced mainstream series so the offered box comes sealed with the Baseball Card Exchange sticker on the bottom noting it to be from that limited issue. The Baseball Card Exchange (Steve Hart) is one of the foremost hobby experts on unopened material. An Alan Trammell card has been sealed inside the cellophane. Offered box appears to be in great shape inside the cellophane wrapping. 36 unopened packs for a total of 540 cards from this rare issue.
