Dubbed "The War by the Shore," the event is remembered as one of the most intense and dramatic competitions in golf history, decided on the final green when Bernhard Langer's putt slid past the hole, giving the Americans a tight 14-1/2 to 13-1/2 victory and returning the Ryder Cup to the United States for the first time since 1983.

The white visor, with the logo of event sponsor Cellular One in blue on the forehead, bears 12 autographs applied in legible red marker (7/10 average) across the front band and bill.
