From the indomitable Larry Bird one of the basketball's most revered players from the closing years of the 20th century come these game-worn Converse sneakers from his final NBA season in which he put up 20.2 points 9.6 boards and 6.8 assists per game while dealing with an ailing back. Bird's work ethic determination and competitive fire were the trademarks of the Celtics teams he led during the 1980s and '90s. For 13 seasons with the Celtics from 1979-80 through 1991-92 Bird personified hustle consistency and excellence in all areas of play - as a scorer a passer a rebounder a defender a team player and perhaps above all a clutch performer. "Larry Legend" is one of if not the greatest small forward in NBA history.

The thick rather clunky black leather Converse shoes show solid game use inside and out. Each shoe is signed by Bird gold marker on the upper ankle area (one to the outside and one to the inside). The signature on the left shoe is much bolder and would rate about an 8/10; the other is around 6-7. One thing to note is the slight decaying of the cushioning material in the heel areas of each shoe primarily from aging. A crack has begun to develop as you can see in the images. They still present very well and remain intact but need to be handled with care. The laces appear to be the originals and all other elements besides the heel cushioning are problem-free. Bird gifted these shoes to a Cleveland Cavaliers ball boy during one of the Celtics visits.

Includes a Letter of Authenticity from Andy Bell the Cleveland Cavaliers' equipment manager for over 30 years. LOA from JSA (Y32139) for the autographs. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
