Presented here is an absolutely beautiful 1989 Ken Griffey Jr. rookie year game issued Seattle Mariners home jersey. The Rawlings size 44 jersey features "MARINERS" across the chest along with "24" on the lower left-hand side denoting Griffey Jr.'s number. The rear side reads "GRIFFEY" and a large "24" in the center of the back in blue tackle twill. The Rawling manufacturing tag can be located on the inside front left tail of the jersey, which also features an additional tag that reads "SET 1 1989" for the year that the jersey would have been used. The jersey shows definite signs of wash wear and evidence of game use. All tagging and sizing match existing exemplars of Griffey Jr. rookie jerseys. Griffey had an impressive rookie campaign during the 1989 MLB season. He hit 16 homers with 61 RBIs while batting .264. Griffey would go on to the All-Star team in the next 11 consecutive years and twice more in his illustrious career. Some of Griffey Jr.'s accolades include the 1997 AL MVP, 10 Gold Glove awards, 3 Home Run Derby wins (1994, 1998, 1999), 13 All-Star games, and 4 home run titles (1994, 1997, 1998, 1999). Griffey finished his career with 630 home runs, 2781 hits, 1836 RBIs, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016.
