ADDENDUM: After a thorough review by MEARS, the grading service has upgraded this jersey to game used with a MEARS A10 grade.
Presented in this lot is a pristine 1989-90 Larry Bird game worn Boston Celtics home uniform featuring a special memorial band. The white mesh pullover manufactured by Sand-Knit shows excellent evidence of light game wear and wash wear. The text on the memorial armband reads "FOLLOW THROUGH" honoring the late Joan Cohen, the Boston Celtics owner's wife. The manufacturer Sand-Knit size 46 tag is present on the front left tail of the jersey. Two fabric tags with "89" and "3LB" are present denoting the year and extra length on the jersey. The shorts are also tagged with Sand-Knit official manufacturing tags - one showing size 36. Three fabric tags are present reading "89", "2LI", and "33" for the year, size, and jersey number, respectively. All tagging matches existing exemplars and the sizing is correct for Bird during this season.
Bird had an impressive 1989 NBA season, leading the Celtics to a 52-30 record and placing 4th in the East. The Celtics faced off against the New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs and fell short in Game 5 of the series. Bird averaged 24.3 PPG, 9.5 RPG, and 7.5 APG during his 1989-90 All-Star season. Overall, an incredible examplar accompanied by a full LOA from MEARS A10.
