Hall of Famer Chris Chelios saw his final season at the Montreal Forum in 1989-90 adding to the historic import of this offered jersey. This heavy knit by CCM was worn by the Hall-of-Fame-bound blueliner that year before he moved on to a fresh start with the Chicago Black Hawks. Chelios played for the Montreal Canadiens Chicago Blackhawks Detroit Red Wings and Atlanta Thrashers. He currently holds the record for most games played in the NHL by a defenseman and is fifth overall with 1651 and is tied with Gordie Howe for most NHL seasons played with 26. He missed the playoffs only twice (199798 and 200910) in his entire career.
Presented here is a highly significant gamer from that final memorable season in Montreal. This white Canadiens heavy knit jersey has the legendary Canadiens emblem patch on the front in red white and blue tackle twill. Chelios' No. 24 appears on the back in blue-on-red tackle twill and his name is in blue tackle twill on a white nameplate on the back. The CCM logo is found on the back of the tail in red/red/blue embroidery; The Maska label appears on the collar with some fading. Chelios' captain's "C" is up on the left breast in blue on red tackle twill a duty he shared that single season with Guy Carbonneau. The Hall of Famer has signed on the back of the shirt in black Sharpie directly below the nameplate. The jersey shows game-use including stick marks and a pair of tiny tears (less than one inch) on each sleeve near the cuff and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Chelios and a Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum Collection.
