Addendum: Magic wore Converse ERX-400 shoes beginning in 1988. He wore them in the 1988 Finals against the Pistons as well as the 1988-89 regular season.

Magic Johnson’s prolific NBA career reached its peak in the late 1980's as the Los Angeles Lakers finished off their fifth NBA title of the decade be defeating the Detroit Pistons in the 1988 NBA Finals. Magic won three league MVP awards in a four-year span to close out the decade ('87 '89 & '90). This lot features a pair of Magic’s 1988-89 dual-signed and game-worn Converse shoes the same style he wore in the '88 Finals against the "Bad Boys" and into his 2nd MVP campaign the following season. (Getty 1719662 provides good style-match.)

Released in 1988 these Magic Johnson CONS ERX-400 signature model shoes show ample game usage with some light toning around the largely white with purple and yellow trim leather kicks. Each shoe is stamped in purple with “MAGIC.” Magic signed both shoes and added “Good Luck” near the rear in 8-9/10 blue fine-point marker. The original shoelaces which reflect some colored liquid spills (and possibly blood) remain intact. The shoe size is not marked but they appear to come in Magic’s standard size 14-15 range.

Autographs pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
