Former NHL left winger Ken Baumgartner was drafted 245th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft although he didn't make his NHL debut until joining the L.A. Kings during the 1987-88 season. A defenseman until he reached the NHL he would go on to play for the Islanders Maple Leafs Mighty Ducks and Bruins until his retirement in 2000. Baumgartner's primary role was as an enforcer and in his 12 NHL seasons he tallied 2242 penalty minutes in 696 regular season games. He recorded 13 goals and 41 assists for 54 career points. He is the only NHL player in history to play a full 82-game season and record only one point.
This lot features Baumgartner's Los Angeles Kings game-worn road jersey. The black CCM jersey with silver and white demonstrates minimal game use. The 100% polyester jersey includes the Kings oversized team logo patch centered across the front while Baumgartner's uniform number "22" can be found on either sleeve in silver tackle twill outlined in black as well as on the back of the jersey in silver tackle twill outlined in white. His last name - "BAUMGARTNER" - is positioned just above the number 22 on the reverse in similar silver-on-white tackle twill fashion. Fraying of letters and numbers on the jersey's reverse is quite evident.
Includes LOA from Ken Baumgartner and Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
