Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas led the Detroit Pistons to back-to-back NBA titles in 1989 and 1990, earning Finals MVP in the latter. An unstoppable floor general and fantastic scorer, Thomas was one of the slightest players in the league during his 13-year NBA career. Despite his 6' 1" 180-lbs. stature, the Chicago native, nicknamed "Zeke" by his former teammates, electrified basketball fans with lightning quickness and brave moxie on the court. He played his entire career with the Pistons serving as team captain and key catalyst for the "Bad Boys" of Motown, finishing with 18,882 points and 9,061 assists and making the All-Star team every year but his last.
This lot offers Isiah's 1988-89 Detroit Pistons game worn road jersey from the franchise's first NBA championship season. The blue mesh jersey has "PISTONS" and his number "11" screened-on the front in red with a white outline. The reverse has his number again in the same format along with "THOMAS" across the back, although much of the white has faded off the back letters. The left front tail has appropriate "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for DETROIT PISTONS" and size 42 labeling from MacGregor Sand-Knit. The shirt displays solid evidence of game wear throughout, having earned a near-perfect A9 grade from MEARS. (Only deduction is faded back letters.)
