In 21 seasons Cal Ripken Jr. put up plenty of outstanding numbers for the Baltimore Orioles the most impressive of which was his MLB record of playing in 2632 consecutive games. This lot features a pair of Ripkens game-worn Orioles pants used during the 1987 season his seventh year in the league. Not surprisingly he played in all 162 games that year and batted .252 with 27 home runs and 98 runs batted in. The Rawlings size 38 waist pants show excessive game wear and multiple team repairs the most noticeable of which is a large (5 high by 4 wide) gray patch sewn into the back of the left pant leg. The pants includes the red Rawlings manufacturers tag on the inside right side of the waistband next to which is a white strip tag sewn in brandishing Ripkens uniform number 8 in black. On the left side of the inner waistband is another white sewn-on strip tag with black numbers reading 38-40 29 1 87 to indicate waist size inseam length set number and year. The Orioles patented orange black and white piping runs the length of either pant leg with the elastic waistband matching the same color scheme.
