ADDENDUM: Graded A10 by MEARS. LOA now posted.

During his rookie season in MLB with the California Angels, Wally Joyner became a fan favorite and briefly inspired a sensation in which Anaheim Stadium was dubbed "Wally World," an ode to the fictional theme park in National Lampoon's 1983 flick with Vacation. The sweet-swingin' lefty batted .290 with 22 homers and 100 RBI as a rook and was named the American League's starting first baseman in the 1986 All-Star Game, becoming the first rookie ever voted as a starter by the fans. The Halos advanced to the 1986 ALCS, where they came within one strike of the franchise's first World Series appearance. Wally then followed up his runner-up ROY campaign by belting 34 dingers with 117 ribbies and 100 runs. He finished his standout, 16-year career with a .289 lifetime average, 204 HR's and 1,106 RBI.

This white pullover garment was donned by Joyner during his memorable rookie campaign in 1986. It features "Angels" across the chest in red-on-navy tackle twill with a yellow tackle twill halo around the 'A'. Joyner's No. "21" has been sewn to the front left and back in red-on-navy tackle twill, the same configuration used for his name on the back. Each sleeve and the collar bear a navy-red-navy knitted stripe accent and the left sleeve bears the circular Angels patch. A Wilson main label with laundry instructions appears on the left front tail with a small flap tag with size "42" and a second adjacent white tag with "86" embroidered in navy blue. Joyner has signed vertically in black marker between the "2" and the "1" of his number on the back. The jersey shows moderate wear throughout and comes completely all-original and probem-free. There is some fraying of the navy blue stitching on some of the tackle twill elements, most noticeably on his name and uniform number on the back.

Includes Beckett COA for the autograph and a MEARS A10 letter for its game use. Originally sourced from the Newport Sports Museum in Orange County, CA.
