This offered piece of lumber was used by baseball’s Hit King, Pete Rose, during his last season as a player. In 1984, Rose had famously returned to Cincinnati where he began his career back in 1963. On September 11, 1985, Rose broke Ty Cobb’s long-standing career hits record and would go on to record the last 52 of his 4,256 hits during the 1986 season. This Mizuno gamer appears to have contributed to at least a few of those 52 final knocks.The black-finished ash bat weighs 33.9 oz. and measures 34 inches. The barrel exhibits several ball mark impressions and grain separation. The barrel ends show abrasions from contact with the dirt when Charlie Hustle would dig into the batter's box. A spiraled ring of white tape wrapped around the center of the bat. The barrel has been custom stamped with “A.T.H.L” (All Time Hit Leader) in honor of Rose’s career milestone and new place in baseball history. Best of all, the bat has been boldly signed by the Hit King in 9/10 silver paint pen, making this a stunning display piece.
