In 1986, Mark McGwire played only 18 games for the Oakland Athletics as a late season call up from their minor league Tacoma affiliate. Because of his limited service, he was not considered a full-fledged rookie until 1987 when he was named AL Rookie of the Year.
Presented here is a 1986 Oakland A’s home jersey issued for McGwire. On the inner front left tail is the “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag with size “46” and a flag tag that reads “SET 2 1986”. Across the front reads “OAKLAND” in green on yellow tackle twill. Across the back is the player name “McGWIRE” in green tackle twill. Adjacent below is the player number “25” in the same green on yellow tackle twill. The jersey is properly tagged and shows light wear appropriate for its dating.
