The 1986 Fleer Basketball set is quite possibly the most iconic in basketball sports card history. The set is anchored by “His Airness,” Michael Jordan, and features other notable HOF rookie cards including Charles Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwon, Patrick Ewing, Dominique Wilkins, Karl Malone, Clyde Drexler and many more. This incredible, hobby-fresh set is fairly evenly matched and includes all eleven sticker cards. Our consignor built this set entirely from scratch, pulling the majority of the cards straight from '86 Fleer packs.

We recently sent eight cards to SGC for grading highlighted by the #57 Michael Jordan RC in SGC VG 3 and the #8 Michael Jordan Sticker RC in SGC NM 7. Other graded noteables are #7 Charles Barkley SGC NM/MT 8, #121 Dominique Wilkins SGC NM/MT 8, #109 Isiah Thomas SGC NM/MT 8, #9 Larry Bird SGC EX/NM 6, #53 Magic Johnson SGC EX/NM 6, and #32 Patrick Ewing SGC NM+ 7.5.

As far as the remaining raw cards, most fall in the EX to NM territory presenting some advantageous grading opportunities. The #1 Abdul-Jabbar, #2 Larry Bird, #5 Julius Erving, #7 Magic Johnson and #10 Isiah Thomas from the sticker set all have that factory-fresh look and feel, but are not without the centering issues commonly found in '86 Fleer stickers. On the hand, the surfaces of the sticker cards remain much smoother and cleaner than you'll typically find, without the significant wax staining on the backs that these are prone to have. The #68 Karl Malone and #82 Akeem Olajuwon rookies from the base set have some corner wear but appear VG-EX overall. Again, these have never been publicly offered and are fresh to the hobby.
