Nice Los Angeles Kings pairing of game used and team-signed sticks courtesy of former teammates goaltender Rollie Melanson and defenseman Tom Laidlaw. Melanson's 1986-87 Louisville '2625G' game-used white-painted wood stick has his name stamped on the shaft with white tape jobs on the upper handle and blade. The thick shaft area is signed by Melanson and seven teammates from that 1986-87 squad: Luc Robitaille Grant Ledyard Mark Hardy Dave Taylor Jaw Wells Jim Fox and Steve Duchesne. It is personalized "To John [Hamilton founder of Newport Sports Museum] Thanks for everything" at the top with "1986-87 L.A. Kings" on the blade. All is done in very legible 8-9/10 thick black marker. Stick shows light to moderate game use.
Tom Laidlaw's 1988-89 game-used Sher-Wood 'P.M.P. 9030' wood stick with his name and No. "3" stamped on the shaft is properly taped on the upper handle and blade. It shows solid game use and is signed by 20 L.A. Kings from the 1988-89 team that finished 42-31-7 for 92 points for a 2nd place finish in the Smythe Division. The Kings eventually lost in the Western Conference Semifinals. We were unable to identify five autographs due to them being located on the labeling. Legible are Tim Watters Laidlaw Steve Duchesne Paul Guay Chris Kontos Dale DeGray Phil Sykes Doug Crossman Mike Krushelnyski Jay Miller Dean Kennedy Dave Taylor Ken Baumgartner Kelly Hrudey and Luc Robitaille. Unfortunately Gretzky was not found. All signatures are done in 7-9/10 black marker.
