The late Maurice Lucas was a former standout power forward in both the ABA and NBA who won his only championship in 1977 with the Portland Trail Blazers. Playing alongside center Bill Walton Lucas averaged 20.2 points per game that season to bring Portland its only title. In the ABA the 6 9 Lucas was one of the best and on August 23 1997 at the ABA's 30 Year Reunion celebration he was named to the All-Time All-ABA Team along with Hall of Fame members including Julius Erving Dan Issel George Gervin Rick Barry and Connie Hawkins. This lot features a pair of game-worn and autographed Nike shoes that Lucas used during the 1986-87 NBA season his next to last season before retiring when he helped the Seattle SuperSonics to a fourth-place finish in the Pacific Division standings. He scored an even 500 points that season which included nailing 175 field goals. The canvas/leather shoes complete with original shoe laces and green Nike swoosh show ample game use with plenty of scuff marks. The four-time NBA All-Star signed both shoes near the heel area in fine-point black marker.
Both signed shoes comes with their own PSA COA cards (certification #s X61669 and X61670).
