One of the most popular basketball sets of all-time, the 1986-87 Fleer set boasts an array of Hall of Fame rookie cards highlighted, of course, by Michael Jordan. Other key first year issues (since Topps' exit from basketball in 1982) include Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, Hakeem Olajuwon, Charles Barkley, Clyde Drexler, Isiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkins, James Worthy, Chris Mullin, Joe Dumars, Spud Webb and Manute Bol. The 11 stickers feature stars such as Jordan, Bird, Magic, Kareem, Hakeem, Ewing and Isiah. Two cards were sent to Beckett for grading: #57 Michael Jordan (BGS NM-MT+ 8.5) and Jordan's #8 sticker card (BGS EX-MT 6).
The cards are mostly sharp and smooth with tremendous eye appeal, ranging as low as EX to as high as MINT on some. Notable conditions are #1 Abdul-Jabbar (NM), 7 Barkley (NM), 9 Bird (NM-MT), 31 Erving (EX-MT), 32 Ewing (EX-MT), 53 Magic (EX-MT), 68 Malone (NM), 77 Mullin (EX-MT), 82 Olajuwon (NM), 109 Thomas (NM-MT), 121 Wilkins (NM) and 131 Worthy (NM). STICKERS – #1 Kareem (NM), 2 Bird (NM). Terrific, high-grade set of Fleer's first basketball release since the company's big splash in 1961.
