From a relatively modest beginning as a New York Met in the late 1960's Nolan Ryan pretty quickly grew into the dominant hurler in the American League after the Mets traded him after the 1971 season. Ryan a hard-throwing right-hander threw pitches that were regularly recorded above 100 miles per hour. As the 1970s turned into the 1980s Nolan Ryan returned to his home state of Texas signing with the Houston Astros and becoming baseballs first one million dollar per year player. The 1980s were a decade of milestones for Nolan Ryan as he passed Walter Johnsons all-time strikeout mark broke Sandy Koufax major league-record four no-hitters and struck out the 5000th batter of his career. He was an eight-time All-Star and his 5714 career strikeouts rank first in baseball history by a significant margin. Ryan and Sandy Koufax are the only two pitchers inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame who had more strikeouts than innings pitched. Ryan is the all-time leader in no-hitters with seven three more than any other pitcher. Before hanging up his spikes at age 46 Ryan topped the elite 300-win mark.

Dating to the 1984-85 period this classic rainbow polyester pull-over garment features "Astros" across the chest and the Astros' star logo on the left chest in navy-on-white tackle twill. Ryan's number "34" is sewn on the back in like fashion. A W.A. Goodman and Sons size 44 manufacturers label with laundry instructions appears inside the collar. Across the back is "RYAN" in navy tackle twill on a white nameplate. The jersey is autographed on front in large black maker and shows light to moderate game-use with no alterations of any kind.
