One of the great stars in the American League during his 17-year major league career from 1974-90 Fred Lynn was a sweet swinging outfielder who was the first player to win both the Rookie of the Year and the league's MVP Award in the same season (1975). After graduation from USC Lynn started his career for the Red Sox with a 1975 season when Lynn and fellow rookie outfielder Jim Rice were dubbed as the Gold Dust Twins. In 1975 Lynn led the American League in doubles runs scored and slugging percentage finished second in the batting race with a .331 average and won a Gold Glove Award for his defensive play. His fearless play in the outfield probably coast him in lifetime numbers as nagging injuries would take their toll during the second half of his career much of that with the Angels. Still he would hit more than 20 home runs in six consecutive seasons starting in 1982 (his second with the Angels) including a stretch from 1984-87 when he hit 23 home runs every year (and 21 22 and 25 on the years on either side of that run). In his 17-year career Lynn batted .283 with 1111 RBI 1960 hits 1063 runs and 306 home runs. Lynn signed twice on this shirt the first in blazing blue Sharpie on the front of this W.A. Goodman & Sons Size 44 pullover gray road jersey. The signature appears opposite his number on the shirt's front and then again on the back in black Sharpie below his No. 19. "Angels" is found across the chest with the "Goodman & Sons 48" manufacturer's size tag on the left front tail. Red-trimmed in navy blue Lynn and 19 are stitched on the back. Sleeves are likewise trimmed. The haloed California insignia is stitched on the left shoulder. A 25-year anniversary commemorative patch (1961-1985) displaying a blue baseball trimmed in gold with red laces and a red A is stitched onto the right shoulder. Jersey shows light wear and is in all respects problem free and unaltered with only some very minimal fraying of the navy blue stitching on some of the tackle twill elements.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
