Eddie Murray was a model of consistency in his 21 seasons in Major League Baseball. The first baseman was drafted by the Orioles and played in Baltimore his first 12 years averaging 28 homers and 99 RBI each season while batting a remarkable .295 during that span. 1985 was just another All-Star season (one of eight in his career) for Murray: .297 31 HR and a career best 124 RBI. He finished 5th in the MVP voting that year one of six seasons in which he was in the top five. It's no wonder "Steady Eddie" was a first ballot Hall of Fame inductee in 2003. And here's the perfect token--the shirt off his back--from the prime of Murray's HOF career in Baltimore where he helped lead the O's to a World Championship in 1983.

The Orioles gray road button-down jersey size 44 is tagged '85 44Z MURRAY 33' inside the back shirttail. MacGregor Sand-Knit manufacturer's tagging appears on outside of front left shirttail with 'Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Baltimore Orioles'. Classic cursive 'Orioles' logo with Murray's number '33' appears across the chest in orange over black tackle twill with 'MURRAY' AND '33' on the back in the same color pattern. Clean stain-free look but it does show good wear with minor fraying especially on large back numbers. The jersey comes as issued in appropriate game-used condition with no alterations of any kind.

Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Orioles Scouting Director Tom Giordano.

The item in this lot comes from the personal collection of longtime MLB executive Tom Giordano. After a very brief playing stint at 2nd base for the Philadelphia Athletics in 1953 Giordano moved on to a coaching managing and scouting career in baseball that is now 66 years and counting (began in 1948 in minor leagues). He was Director of Scouting and Player Development for the Baltimore Orioles from 1976-1987 before moving on to similar front office roles with the Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers. In 2007 Giordano was named East Coast Scout of the Year.
