"The Iceman" George Gervin was one of the true giants in the American Basketball Association prior to the 1976 merger with the NBA captivating fans first for the Virginia Squires and San Antonio Spurs and finally at the conclusion of his career with the Chicago Bulls. Gervin averaged at least 14 points per game in all 14 of his ABA and NBA seasons and finished with an NBA career average of 26.2 points per game. Gervin is widely regarded to be one of the greatest shooting guards in NBA history; he also has the distinction of having been a teammate with both Julius Erving and Michael Jordan. Featured here is a pair of his game-worn Nike Air shoes from his final NBA season with the Bulls in 1985-86. He averages 16.2 points and shot a career best 88% from the line--not a bad way to end a Hall of Fame career. The white leather high-tops with red Swoosh come in size 13.5 Each insole has custom-fitting orthotic for Gervin's aging feet. They show solid wear inside and out with red green colored transfers on the exterior from being stepped on during game auction. Gervin has signed both shoes in the inner side with the inscriptions "Iceman #8" as he wore No. 8 his final year in Chicago. Original white laces intact. Shoes comes essentially as-issued with the only blemish being that a 1-inch rubber midsole area on the inner side of the left shoe is just beginning to detach from leather.
