The 1984 USC Women of Troy basketball team finished with a 29-4 record and won the 1984 National Womens Basketball Championship for the second year in a row by defeating the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers 72-61 in the national title game (April 1 1984). Led by 6 2 senior phenom Cheryl Miller the Lady Trojans came out with both guns blazing to post the convincing victory over the Pat Summit-coached Tennessee team. Miller was named NCAA Tournament MVP for the second straight year. This is an official Spalding basketball from that victorious game which was played at crosstown rival UCLAs campus. The basketball which is clearly marked USC Women of Troy 1986 National Champions USC 72 Tennessee 61 boasts 31 signatures in black fine-point marker including those of Miller along with fellow starters Cynthia Cooper Rhonda Windham and twins Pam and Paula McGee. Every team member is represented via signatures as well as head coach Linda K. Sharp assistant coach Fred Williams grad assistant Kathy Hammond and even team statistician Linda Arbogast.
