1984 Scout of the Year 10K gold ring given to Howie Haak of the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. Haak was a scout for almost 50 years from after World War II right up through 1993. He was with the Pirates for 38 years and was the scout who recommended they take Roberto Clemente from the Dodgers Montreal club. In 1984 he was the first recipient of the Scout of the Year award in recognition of his lifetime of achievement. Large diamond on blue stone at the top with "Scout of the Year" above and below and pair of smaller diamonds at the sides. "Haak Pirates" on one side with "1984" and an image of an owl on a bat with a large baseball behind.
