Offered here is a dual-signed pair of James Worthy's 1984-85 game worn shoes from perhaps the Los Angeles Lakers' most impressive World Championship season during the "Showtime" era. The Hall of Fame forward was a huge part of L.A.'s prestigious championship teams in the 1980's, finishing off countless Magic no-look passes on the break and becoming a fan favorite for his scoring consistency and reliability in the clutch. After leading the UNC Tar Heels to the 1982 NCAA title alongside Michael Jordan, Worthy was drafted #1 overall by the Lakers and played his entire 12-year career in the purple and gold. Over 926 career regular-season games, Worthy averaged 17.6 points and upped his scoring to over 21 PPG in 143 playoff contests. In 34 NBA Finals games, "Big Game James" averaged 22.2 points on 53% shooting and helped lead the Lakers to three titles (’85, ’87 & ’88). The 7-time All-Star was selected as one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players in 1996.

These New Balance 'Worthy 740' player exclusive basketball sneakers come in a white mid-top canvas style with purple side and rear panels. We could find no manufacturer tagging on the interior, but they seem to match Worthy's typical size 14. The purple tongues are emblazoned with "NB Worthy 740" and the well-worn insoles are present. The shoes exhibit evidence of heavy wear and some of the outer and inner material has begun to deteriorate from age and storage. Worthy has signed the outer ankle section of each shoe in blue ink (more legible on the right one). Worthy averaged 17.6 PPG, 6.4 RPG, and 2.6 APG during the 1984-'85 NBA campaign, nearly identical to his career numbers. Autographs certified by Beckett Authentication Services.
