Presented here is a USA Hockey Exhibition game-worn jersey with a unique historical attribution: it was worn by standout collegiate hockey player Ralph Cox who ultimately was the last man cut from the USA Hockey Team in 1980 the squad that startled the world by upending the heavily-favored USSR team and ultimately winning an improbable gold medal. An All-Conference performer at the University of New Hampshire Cox was the ECAC Player of the Year in 1979 and was the team's leading scorer for three years and was the only player in UNH history to score 40 goals in two seasons. He was drafted in the seventh round of the 1977 NHL Entry Draft and played professionally for several years. This exhibition game jersey attributed to Cox is a fine blue mesh with red and white knit waist panel and highlights in the same fashion on the sleeves. Shirt has "USA" screened across the front in red white and blue and his No. 14 is screened in red and white on each shoulder and on the back below a blue nameplate with his name screened in white. Shirt shows game use and is in largely as-issued and problem-free condition with minimal fraying of any of the stitching on the sleeve or waist knit panels and some dirt marks as well. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Newport Sports Museum.
