This classic "bumble bee" style jersey brings back fond memories for Pirate fans during the club’s disco-dancing World Series campaign of 1979. After a dominant 98-64 regular season, the "We Are Family" Bucs put an easy end to the Big Red Machine's 1970s dynasty by sweeping Cincinnati in the NLCS. Then, Pittsburgh took out the Orioles in a memorable seven-game Fall Classic to complete its sensational run.

Offered here is the home pinstriped jersey worn by Mexican pitcher Enrique Romo in 1979. The right-handed reliever was a valuable member of the Pirates bullpen, going 10-5 with five saves and a 2.99 ERA in 84 appearances and 129 innings. He pitched in two games during the '79 World Series.

The coveted "bumble-bee" style pullover jersey has proper Descente manufacturer's tagging on the left front shirttail, with a team-stitched "15 42 79" strip to denote jersey number, size, and year. "PIRATES" across the chest and "15" (front and back) are done in black tackle twill outlined in yellow gold. Black and gold striped piping lines the V-neck collar and sleeve ends. The vertical pinstripes give it that nostalgic late '70s look and feel. Consistent with other Pirates gamers from this era that have surfaced, the name on the back was removed. The team was prone to repurpose its jerseys, which apparently did not happen here. It displays solid wear throughout with heavy puckering and some frayed threads on the letters and numbers. Includes LOA from Sports Investors Authentication.
