This magnificently designed 1978 Larry Holmes World Boxing Council 14K Gold World Heavyweight Championship ring one of only a handful made was presented to Holmes along with other members of his entourage. The top of the ring is shaped like a crown with five real 20-point diamonds at the center surrounded by "WORLD CHAMPION JUNE 9 1978. This was the date that Holmes the famous Easton Assassin from Easton Pennsylvania bested defending World Heavyweight Champion Ken Norton by a split decision at Caesars Palace in one of the closest bouts in boxing history. Holmes who entered the bout with a 27-0 mark outlasted the champ in a truly memorable slug-fest. Even The Ring magazine listed the 15th and final round of the Holmes-Norton fight as the seventh most exciting round in boxing history and many boxing experts rank this fight as one of the All-Time Heavyweight Championship bouts. Holmes went on to successfully defend his WBC title a total of 16 times. Around the top of the ring are seven 20-point rubies separated by vertical lines of real diamonds with 20 additional real diamonds ringed below. All together there are approximately three carats of real diamonds and 1.40 carats of rubies. On one side of the ring are Larry Holmes initials "LH" in script with the other side reading "W.B.C." with a raised image of the organizations logo. Inside of the ring is stamped "14K. The ring size is 11 and its overall weight is 32 grams.
