The unique pinstripe alignment on the presented pants appear to match those worn by the late heroic Yankees captain in the thrilling fourth game of the 1978 World Series one in which Munson doubled home Paul Blair to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth before Lou Pinella singled home Roy White in the bottom of the tenth inning for a walk-off victory. The Yankees home pants exhibit strong season-long wear with no apparent alterations and feature "Wilson [size] 35 1/2" label at interior waistband beside an embroidered swatch stating "Munson 78 3 22."
Included is a letter of provenance from hobby notable Pete Siegel who attests that the pants were purchased directly from a former Yankees team employee.
