Featured here is a very significant 1978 World Series Championship 14-karat gold ring presented to New York Yankees legend Mickey Mantle. The "Bronx Zoo" era of Yankees baseball proved that team chemistry isn’t paramount if there's enough talent and passion in the dugout. With a clubhouse full of fiery personalities, headlined by slugger Reggie Jackson and manager Billy Martin (who left the team midseason), the Yankees somehow overcome the Red Sox and, more impressively, themselves to claim a second straight World Series crown. In fact, New York downed the L.A. Dodgers by the same 4-games-to-2 margin in each Fall Classic. The '78 Yanks stood 14 games behind Boston in July before storming back to take the AL East, culminating with Bucky "Friggin" Dent’s clutch homer in the deciding one-game playoff.

The classic design features a large diamond set in a blue stone face that is surrounded by 21 smaller diamonds around the beveled edge spelling out “World Champions.” On one shank is a depiction of the famous Yankees Stadium Façade and the team name and bat logo atop a World Series trophy. The opposite side reads “Mantle”, “1978” and “NY”, with “Pride” and “Tradition” called out vertically. The interior band is engraved “Greatest Come Back In History” and hallmarked “LGB 14K.” The Mantle ring comes in size 9 and weighs 30 grams, showing light to moderate wear with outstanding presentation. The 1978 World Series ring was Mantle’s last known ring issued by the Yankees. Includes LOA from the Mantle Family.
