Former basketball standout Maurice Lucas was a five-time All-Star who was nicknamed “The Enforcer” by virtue of his intimidating play at power forward and center. During the 1977-78 NBA season Lucas was playing for the Portland Trail Blazers and helped the team post a 54-28 regular-season record and a first place finish in the Western Conference’s Pacific Division. Though they lost to the Seattle SuperSonics in the Western Conference semi-finals the defending NBA champions brought it every night. And Lucas playing in 68 games that season averaged 16.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.
This lot features Lucas’s 1978 NBA Western Conference All-Star game worn full uniform. The game which the East squad won by the score of 133-125 saw Lucas tally 12 points and 13 rebounds over 33 minutes playing time. The offered red and blue polyester jersey reads “WEST STARS” across the front in white tackle twill sewn directly onto the jersey along with Lucas’s uniform number “20” which appears in blue tackle twill outlined in white. Five blue tackle twill stars outlined in white run down the right side of the jersey inside of a red and white stripe. Proper “Russell Athletic” tagging [size 44] appears on the left front tail complete with washing instructions included. His name “LUCAS” appears arched across the back in white tackle twill with his uniform number “20” in blue tackle twill outlined in white. The matching red polyester shorts with blue and white highlights feature a special NBA All-Star Game patch that reads: “1978 ALL-STAR GAME - The Omni Atlanta - February 5” and includes the official NBA logo. As suggested by its perfect MEARS A10 rating the uniform reflects solid wear and comes in all-original condition.
