Plagued by injuries the 1977-78 Washington Bullets finished the regular season with a record of just 44-38 which was good enough for second place in the Eastern Conferences Central Division and a spot in the playoffs. When the postseason ended nearly two months later on June 7th the Bullets had beaten the Seattle SuperSonics in Seattle 105-99 to win the franchises only championship. That was 36 years ago and it just so happens to be the last time an NBA team won a Finals Game 7 on the road. This lot includes a 1977-78 Washington Bullets NBA 14 carat gold Championship Ring belonging to power forward Elvin The Big E Hayes. Hayes was the teams leading scorer and rebounder that season averaging 19.7 points and 13.3 boards per game. The beautifully crafted 14K gold ring boasts a 75-point diamond on top surrounded by "N. B. A. World Champions". "Hayes" "bullets" and "THE FAT LADY SINGS" on one side. NBA logo and "1978" on the other. Inside stamped "Balfour 14K" and "M(?) - E. E. H.". Ring size 13.

One of the most talented power forwards ever to play the game Elvin Hayes used his trademark turnaround jumper and aggressive defense to win a secure place in the NBA record books. Fifth on the all-time list in games (1303) and third in minutes played (50000) he missed only nine contests in his 16 years in the league a tribute to his durability and conditioning. An All-Star for each of his first 12 seasons he scored more points (27313) than any other player in NBA history except for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Karl Malone Wilt Chamberlain Michael Jordan and Moses Malone. In 1996 as part of the NBAs 50th Anniversary Elvin Hayes was named one of the NBAs 50 Greatest Players of all-time. He was elected to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1990.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from Elvin Hayes.
