The Dallas Black Hawks and Fort Worth Wings of the Central Hockey League (CHL) had one of the most vicious rivalries in sports with a decade-long history of fights both on the ice and in the stands. The culmination of this rivalry was the infamous 10 cent beer night at Fort Worth when a near-riot consumed the stands. This jersey dates from that time period and from team records can be attributed to left wing Steve Clippingdale (1977-78) or right wing Alain Belanger (1978-79) who both wore number “10” during the years this style dates to. Both men had stints in the NHL: Clippingdale played 1976-77 with the LA Kings before going to Dallas while Belanger spent part of the 1977-78 season with Toronto.
The front has the Black Hawks Indian logo with black and white striping abound the waist and upper sleeves. The collar is trimmed with black and white ribbing with size 48 Goodman & Sons and Bill Vanderburg labels affixed. The shoulders and back have the number “10” in black and white tackle twill. The jersey shows good game use with scuffing and abrasion marks throughout and a significant clubhouse repair to the number “1” on the back. A rare CHL jersey.
