Walt Frazier was selected by the New York Knicks with the 5th pick in the 1967 NBA Draft. He picked up the nickname "Clyde" because he wore a similar hat to Warren Beatty who played Clyde Barrow in the 1967 movie Bonnie and Clyde. Frazier was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team in 1968. He was named to the All-NBA First Team four times, the All-NBA Second Team twice, and the All-Defensive First Team seven times. With Frazier, the Knicks captured the NBA championship in 1970 and 1973. Frazier's Hall of Fame career was punctuated by seven NBA All-Star Game appearances, the most memorable of which was a 30-point performance in 1975 that earned him MVP honors. Presented here is Frazier's 1975 All-Star Game jersey, worn during one of the defining moments of his career.
The purple knit gamer features stylized elements in homage to its southwestern locale (Phoenix), including the uniquely fonted "East" applied to the chest with twin stars in red and white tackle twill above a heat-pressed number "10." Those digits are affixed beneath "Frazier" on verso in similar format. The "Spanjian" manufacturer's label with size "42" designator appears on the left front tail, having somewhat loosened from the stitching on the left edge. Wear is appropriate for a single game, and the jersey is autographed in 10/10 black sharpie with his famous "Clyde" nickname at lower left chest.
Frazier was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987 and also named one of the NBA's Top 50 All-Time Greatest players as part of the league's 50th Anniversary. You would be hard pressed to find a more appealing jersey worn by one of the most charismatic and talented players of his generation.
