Super Bowl VII saw Don Shula’s Miami Dolphins cap off their perfect 17-0 season with a 14-7 victory over George Allen's Washington Redskins at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on January 14 1973. It was the last Super Bowl ever played at the Coliseum as five subsequent Super Bowls staged in SouthernCalifornia were played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. With their win the AFC Champion Dolphins became the first--and still the only--team in NFL history tocomplete a perfect undefeated season.The final score indicates a much closer game than it actually was. The Dolphins' "No-Name Defense" dominated the game allowing Washington to cross midfield only once in the first half and only four times overall. But Super Bowl VII is remembered most for the final two minutes of the game. Miami's quest for a perfect season was jeopardized when Redskins cornerback Mike Bass grabbed Dolphins kicker Garo Yepremian's fumble/ill-fated pass attempt and returned it 49 yards for a touchdown.
This full unused ticket fromthe contest is in very nice shape and has been graded PSA EX-MT 6. With a $15.00 face value price at the time it now carries an SMR value of $750.
