This Wilson Official NBA basketball is signed by nine members of the 1973-74 Boston Celtics Wold Championship team. With six players averaging double figures and nobody scoring more than John Havlicek's 22.6 points per game this Celtics squad epitomized the clich "team basketball" claiming the title with a 4-3 NBA Finals series victory over Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and the Milwaukee Bucks. By Celtic's standards the 1970's were an "off-decade" as they won only two NBA titles.
Included are Havlicek (HOF) Dave Cowens (HOF) Paul Silas Jo Jo White Don Nelson (HOF) Paul Westphal Don Chaney and head coach Tom Heinsohn (HOF) from that special group. Even the Celtics legendary Hall of Fame head coach Red Auerbach by then retired has added his John Hancock. The signatures range 6-8/10 in black marker. The ball has aged slightly but overall is as issued in very good condition.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
