Here is a rare and historically significant Chile National Team home jersey from the 1973/74 World Cup qualifying campaign, match-worn by defender Alberto Quintano — nicknamed "El Mariscal" — and preserved in the Oscar Collection.
The short-sleeve jersey is constructed in solid red cotton, unadorned in the minimalist style of 1970s South American international football. The jersey features a reinforced crew neck collar and double white stripe detailing on the right sleeve, a period-correct design detail for Chile's national team of the era. The left chest bears the embroidered Chile national team crest — a shield-style badge in blue and red with a white star at center and "CHILE" lettering — in a bold, characterful design consistent with the period. The reverse carries a bold applied white "#3" numeral in a hand-applied style with visible brushwork detail, authentic to the period's production methods.
The jersey presents with substantial match wear including fabric softening, general discoloration, and wear consistent with its age and campaign use. Chile competed in the World Cup qualifying rounds during this era, and Quintano was a key defensive contributor. Images from Getty confirm team lineups from this period. From the Oscar Collection, which documents its provenance among the jerseys personally preserved by Brazilian great Oscar.
The Oscar Bernardi Collection
This shirt comes from the personal collection of José Oscar Bernardi, better known as Oscar, who played for the Brazil National Team from 1977 to 1986. Included is a letter of provenance signed by Oscar. Most jerseys in the collection were obtained directly through player swaps after competition. Others were acquired via gifts or trade with footballers in Oscar’s wide network of teammates and friends. At age 71, he still resides in Brazil and is ready for his collection to be appreciated by others in the hobby.
