Presented here is an attractive game-worn gray road jersey from the great Maury Wills perhaps the unlikeliest of Dodger immortals who burst upon the baseball scene in 1959 amid the widespread skepticism of scouts and front office executives only to anchor a Dodgers offense based on speed and timely hitting and a defense designed around timely fielding and Cooperstown-bound pitchers. He would win the National League's MVP Award in 1962 lead the National League in stolen bases in his first six consecutive full-time season - including a then-record 104 in that MVP campaign - and genuinely transform the modern game elevating the stolen base to a place of prominence like no other point in the game's history. The Wills jersey is from the 1972 season his last year with his beloved Dodgers and the capstone of his historic career. The grey road jersey is imposing with the famed "Dodgers" scripted across the front in tackle twill above Will's No. 30 in red; his No. 30 is also on the back in blue tackle twill below his name also in Dodger Blue. A Rawlings tag Size 38 appears at the back of the collar; "Wills 72" is embroidered in Dodger Blue at the lower left tail on the front. The shirt is in fine condition showing game use and light fraying of some of the stitching but is essentially as-issued and problem free.
