Winners of 3 successive AL pennants and 318 regular season games (an American League record) in the process the 1969-71 Baltimore Orioles had indeed supplanted the Yankees as baseballs powerhouse. These Accutron watches were given to Baltimore players and personnel for their efforts over that dominant span and for their participation of the Clubs 1971 Tour of Japan. This one was present to Clay Reid the Orioles team trainer. Reid started in baseball as an equipment manager with the Kansas City Athletics from 1956 to 1961. He joined the Orioles in 1961 and retired in 1983. During his career he was involved in several World Series.

The timepiece has a printed proclamation of 3 Straight A.L. Champions as well as some Japanese lettering at the far right. Through a crystal facing hour minute and second hands reveal the time with the day of the month displayed at the top. The colorful cartoon bird logo accents the clock display. This stainless steel Astronaut Mark II is marked by Bulova on the back along with the original owners name engraved on the back of the case (C. Reid Team Trainer); the serial numbers read H673762 NI. The watch comes with an adjustable wrist strap and remarkably still runs. In fact the consignor had it serviced by a National Watch dealer with a new battery installed. Beautiful and rare watch!
