“Pistol Pete” Maravich was one of the first sports stars to be a “rock star”, long before that terminology was used. Pete’s scoring accomplishments, ballhandling wizardry and flashy style were unique and groundbreaking in basketball and sports in general. His NCAA scoring records at LSU look like they will stand forever. Pete’s early NBA career with the Atlanta Hawks resulted in All-Star Game selections and being named All-NBA 2nd team in 1973.
Offered is Pete’s coveted 1970 Topps rookie card in a very solid PSA NM 7. These “tall boy” cards are tough to find in high grades, and this iconic cardboard example of the hoop legend presents quite nicely. Very few flaws are visible, with snowy-white borders, sharp corners, and a clean surface. Centering is about 40/60 left to right and also bottom to top. A necessary card for any serious vintage collection.
