Super Bowl IV was played on January 11 1970 at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans Louisiana. The AFL Champion Kansas City Chiefs defeated the NFL Champion Minnesota Vikings by the score of 237. This victory by the AFL squared the Super Bowl series with the NFL at two games apiece. This was also the final AFL-NFL World Championship Game before the two leagues merged into one after the season. The Vikings entered the game as 12.5-to-13-point favorites but the Chiefs defense dominated the contest by limiting Minnesotas offense to only 67 rushing yards picking off three passes and recovering two fumbles. Kansas City's Len Dawson became the fourth consecutive winning quarterback to be named Super Bowl MVP after he completed 12 of 17 passes for 142 yards and one touchdown.

This lot features a 1970 Kansas City Chiefs team-signed and Super Bowl IV game-used football. The football is marked "CC" the code used by Wilson to indicate that a ball was Super Bowl issued. Super Bowl IV was the last to feature balls stamped with Thorp Sporting Goods as well. According to written documentation the ball originated from the daughter of Betty Swanson an employee of the Chiefs organization. The daughter Cynthia Swanson who served as the teams cheerleader/mascot during the 1969 season. The football boasts more than 40 signatures in black marker (some of them very faint) from the team including standouts like Hall of Famers Len Dawson Curley Culp Bobby Bell Jan Stenerud Buck Buchanan and Emmitt Thomas. Other notable autographs are from Ed Podolak and Otis Taylor. The ball still holds air and comes essentially as-issued and problem-free. Also included with this lot is an official Super Bowl IV program unsigned in near-mint condition.

Includes copy of notarized letter from Chiefs employee's daughter.

Autographs pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
