Jim Hardin was a hard-throwing right-hander who played six years in the major leagues the first five of which were spent throwing fastballs for the Baltimore Orioles (1967 to '71). In 1970 as a 26-year-old Hardin helped the O's win the World Series by putting up a 6-5 regular-season record in 19 starts with 78 strikeouts and two shutouts over 145 innings pitched. As a starting pitcher he was an iron man registering 28 complete games in 100 career starts. This lot features Hardin's 1970 Baltimore Orioles game-worn road jersey from the O's championship season.

The well-worn gray flannel shows moderate use and boasts proper Spalding manufacturer's tagging (size 42) on the left front tail. A washing instructions tag is also present just below the Spalding tag. A separate gray cloth nameplate exists on the inside rear collar reading in black chain-stitching "42 Set 2 70 44" to reflect size set number season and uniform number. Across the front is "Baltimore" in orange felt script lettering outlined in black. Hardin's uniform number "44" appears on the left breast in similar orange-on-black felt numbers measuring 3.5" tall. Four manufactured air holes exist underneath each armpit. On the reverse can be found "HARDIN" stretching in semi-circular fashion across the shoulders in orange felt lettering outlined in black positioned just above his uniform number "44" in similar fashion measuring 6.5" tall. Baltimore's black piping stretches the length of the jersey's front and around the collar. The jersey exhibit moderate use with slight staining on the front.

Part of the esteemed Delbert Mickel estate collection.
