Presented here is a high-grade master set of 1969 Topps Baseball with 663 cards from the basic set plus 31 variations (694 cards total), with all 23 "White Label" cards including Mickey Mantle, Willey McCovey and Gaylord Perry. These scarce WL variations fall between card #'s 440-511 and were printed only in the 5th series release. As for condition, this extraordinary set is just 2% shy of being graded 100% NM-MT 8 to Gem Mint 10 by PSA.
Mickey Mantle would retire following the 1969 season, so this set featured The Mick's last card issue from his playing career. Top rookies include Hall of Famers Reggie Jackson, Rollie Fingers, Earl Weaver and Bobby Cox plus Graig Nettles, Al Oliver, Dock Ellis, Sparky Lyle and Bobby Bonds. 12 cards are the highest graded examples and 24 have only one graded higher on the PSA Pop Report. Only #394 Seattle Pilots Rookies (Lou Piniella) and #567 Pirates Rookies (no black outline on title) are missing to make it a 100% complete. Recently retired on the PSA Registry with a set rating of 8.15 and GPA of 8.16, it would rank #12 once reinstated. Please note that the registry shows #394 Piniella is present in PSA Gem Mint 10 and #463 Dennis Ribant is missing, but the opposite is true – Ribant is present and comes in PSA Mint 9. This would have very little effect on the GPA and set rating (down to 8.12 at the worst) so it would still easily come in at #12 on the current rankings. Here's the highlighted breakdown with Hall of Famers and notable variations mentioned.
