The 1969 Topps #95 Johnny Bench is the Hall of Fame catcher's second-year card and the first to feature him alone, following his shared 1968 Topps rookie issue. It highlights Bench's breakthrough 1968 campaign, in which he hit 15 home runs, collected 40 doubles and drove in 82 runs to earn National League Rookie of the Year honors, a season commemorated by the Topps All-Star Rookie trophy emblem on the front of the card.

The front presents a classic pose of the young Reds catcher crouched behind the plate with his mitt extended, framed by the 1969 Topps design's white borders, the circular "Johnny Bench Catcher" nameplate and bold yellow "REDS" lettering. The reverse recounts his 1967 Minor League Player of the Year award and his selection to the Topps All-Star Rookie Team, along with his complete batting record, beneath a cartoon noting his first big league homer on September 20, 1967.

Graded MINT 9 by SGC (certification no. 1393744), this example displays outstanding eye appeal with vibrant colors, a sharp image, crisp corners and clean, glossy surfaces. Centering is well-balanced for the issue, and the presentation in SGC's tuxedo-style holder is striking. Mint-grade examples of this popular Bench issue are scarce and highly desirable.

Bench went on to become the backbone of the "Big Red Machine," winning two MVP awards, ten Gold Gloves and two World Series titles, and is widely regarded as the greatest catcher of all time. A superb high-grade example.
