Just seven years after debuting with an historically awful 40-120 season in 1962 the New York Mets were Champions of the baseball world in 1969 capping an Amazin' season with a four games to one elimination of the heavily-favored Baltimore Orioles in the World Series. For many in the baseball world and even for some of its legendary diehard fans the moment was as unthinkable and unimaginable as the idea of man walking on the moon which coincidentally had occurred on July 21 that year smack dab in the middle of the club's ferocious charge that vaulted them past the bewildered Cubbies and into the postseason which for the first time now included preliminary play into the World Series. Could such a team of destiny faltered at this point? We think not. A seemingly more imposing West Division Braves team led by the great Hank Aaron fell before the Mets pitching and timely hitting setting the stage for the historic World Series that remains to this day as simply amazing.
With such historic import comes this glistening World Series ring that has "New York Mets World Champions 1969" standing in raised lettering at the perimeter of a blue central stone on the face and which holds an inset real diamond weighing .65 carats. Left shank features a Mets team logo and an engraved identification: "Eq Mgr Torman" designating the club's equipment manager Nick Torman. Right shank is dominated by an image of Shea Stadium in miniature with text announcing the trail of their success: "Eastern Division National League World Series" and the words "Mets vs. Orioles." The interior band is stamped "Jostens 10K" and engraved with the name "Nick Torman" in cursive. For the devoted Mets fan there could be provided no finer finger adornment. Nr-Mt to Mt condition Size 10 ring comes in the original 21/2-by-2-inch felt box.
