Andy Rice enjoyed an eight-year career in the NFL as a defensive tackle. Drafted by Kansas City in 1966 he started for the Chiefs in Super Bowl I where they lost to the Green Bay Packers 35-10. A couple years later the Chiefs beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-7 to claim their only Super Bowl championship. In 1968 Rice was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the expansion draft and when the Chiefs won Super Bowl IV they awarded rings to those players which were lost in that 68 AFL expansion draft. This is the ring presented to Andy Rice 55 years ago for his contributions to the Chiefs organization. The top features a large diamond surrounded by 10 smaller diamonds all in a football motif fixed into a red stone. Around the perimeter reads "KANSAS CITY CHIEFS 1969 WORLD CHAMPIONS. One shank has his name ("RICE") his number (70) position ("DT") and score of the AFL title game (17-7) against the Raiders while the other side has the Super Bowl score ("CHIEFS 23 VIKINGS 7") and the Lombardi Trophy. The size 15 ring weighs 38 grams and has "JOSTENS 10K" engraved in the band. It is extremely rare to see player rings from very early Super Bowls and this provides a strong opportunity to acquire this scarce precious keepsake of early NFL history. The ring exhibits consistent light wear with several raised areas lightly worn down. Despite this normal 55 year wear the ring has all legible features and displays very well. Very Good overall condition.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from Andy Rice.
