The 196970 Milwaukee Bucks season was the second NBA season for the team. Led by heralded rookie center Lew Alcindor (now Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) they finished with a 5626 record which was good enough for second place in the Eastern Division. After beating the Philadelphia 76ers four games to one in the Eastern Conference semifinals they lost to the eventual NBA Champion New York Knicks in the conference finals four games to one. This lot includes a Pennsylvania Official Ace Hardware AB 500 basketball that includes 14 signatures in what appears to be either fine-point black markers or pens from the members of that years squad including head coach Larry Costello and the up-and-coming Alcindor. Other signatures of note include Bob Dandridge Jon McGlocklin Flynn Robinson Guy Rodgers and Greg Smith. Though the majority of signatures have faded over time they are all legible.
Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
