Call it a case of lightning striking the same place twice but we have available for auction another of the amazingly rare 1968 Topps 3D Football Prototype Proof cards depicting Tucker Frederickson the #1 pick in the 1965 Pro Football Draft by the New York Giants. Our November auction featured the first one known in the hobby a very sharp looking example which sold for $12865 in that sale. This recently discovered 1968 Topps 3D Prototype card was found originally many years ago by the consignor in a "junk box" of football cards at a local show. Seeing the first card on line and the price realized the consignor thought of the unknown card he had held on to all these years and immediately gave us a call. Measuring 2 3/8" by 3 5/8" the card is just a shade larger than the Topps 3-D baseball issue. On back is stamped "Not for public circulation or distribution. Not for resale. To be returned to: Visual Panographics Inc. 488 Madison Ave. New York New York" in black. The offered card has close to 50/50 centering all the way around. The front has a crease across the top running horizontally about 3/8" from top edge. There is damage to the upper right corner with loss of the top 3D surface. Cracks in 3D surface at bottom left and right corners. 4 blue ink spots at side edge on right side. Still displays very well for condition and is one of only 2 of these beauties known. Slabbed AUTHENTIC by SGC.
