In 1968 Topps produced one of its rarest "test" issues the Topps 3D cards. They were produced in scant numbers and the only known distribution was done in a few Brooklyn area candy stores in close proximity to the Topps company headquarters. Individual cards are extremely rare and only a few complete sets are known. One can only speculate and wonder why the cards were never distributed on the national level but the high cost of production is most likely the reason. The nature of their composition makes them highly condition sensitive. They are unusually prone to surface cracking and scratches. Not so much as a hint of any of these common faults affects this pristine example of the key card to the desirable and difficult 1968 Topps 3D Baseball series. Every physical attribute of this Clemente gem holds up against the highest scrutiny prescribed by the SGC grading process so indicated by their seldom issued MINT 96 rating.
