Step back in time and immerse yourself in the glory of Ohio State's undefeated 1968 National Championship team. This lovely gold-plated football pants charm celebrates the Buckeyes' 50-14 shellacking over rival Michigan on November 23, 1968. The charm (or pendant if you prefer) measures 1" and weighs 8 grams. Awarded to OSU's equipment repair man, Phil Bennett, it has his initials "PB" on the front and "1968 OHIO-50, MICH-14" in raised relief on the back. Presents in mint condition.While any victory over Michigan holds a special place in Buckeye lore, the 1968 win stands out as the second-most lopsided win in the long history of the bitter rivalry. With this triumph, the Buckeyes clinched the Big Ten title, propelling them to the top spot in the AP rankings. The team thenshowcased its prowess in the "Granddaddy of Them All" by defeating USC, 27-16, in the Rose Bowl, to become consensus National Champions. The perfect 10-0 season was a testament to the unwavering dedication and skill of the players and coaching staff.Includes a note from the original recipient's stepson. Apparently, Phil Bennett was one of legendary OSU Head Coach Woody Hayes' closest friends.
