Bill White probably became best known as not only a New York Yankees broadcaster during the 1970’s but also by serving as the National League's president from 1989 to 1994. But before serving his time in office White was a first baseman and outfielder who played primarily for both the St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies. Offered here is White’s 1968 Philadelphia Phillies game worn road jersey from a season in which he collected 92 hits and drove in 40 runs.

The button-down gray flannel shows solid use and reads “Phillies” across the front – with stars over the “i’s” – stitched in red embroidered cursive lettering outlined in white. Positioned on the left front tail is the “Wilson” manufacturer’s label {size] 42 and washing instructions tag accompanied by a separate Wilson tag reading “1968 SET 2.” White’s uniform number “10” appears on the reverse in red embroidered numbering outlined in white. A pair of team repairs are evident on the back right shoulder and some slight staining is present on the back of the jersey. On the inside rear collar is a strip tag reading “White” chain stitched in navy blue script. All seven original dark gray buttons remain intact down the front of the jersey.
